Cholesterol Screening
The Silent Risk You Cannot Feel
High cholesterol is not a disease in itself, and it rarely causes any noticeable symptoms. Many people have elevated cholesterol levels for years without knowing it. Over time, excess cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis, a build-up of fatty deposits in the artery walls. When combined with other risk factors, this significantly increases the likelihood of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, and stroke.
At Robertsons Pharmacy, our rapid cholesterol testing service uses the highly accurate CardioChek Analyser to deliver a comprehensive lipid panel from a simple finger-prick blood sample, with results available in minutes. Contact us today to arrange your test.
What Your Cholesterol Test Measures
Our test provides a full lipid panel, breaking your results into four key markers that together give a complete picture of your cardiovascular health.
Results are discussed with you immediately, and personalised lifestyle advice is provided on the same day. Find your nearest branch to book your test.

Clear answers to help you understand your heart health.
For a full lipid panel including triglycerides, fasting for nine to twelve hours beforehand is recommended to ensure the most accurate triglyceride reading. If fasting is not possible, a non-fasting test can still provide useful information for total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL. Let our team know when booking if fasting is not possible for you.
Our pharmacist will discuss your results immediately and provide personalised lifestyle advice on diet and physical activity. Where results indicate a significant cardiovascular risk, we will advise you to follow up with your GP, who may consider further investigation or treatment such as statin therapy. You will receive a written summary of your results to take to any follow-up appointment.
Cholesterol testing is recommended for adults aged 40 and over as part of routine cardiovascular health monitoring. It is also advisable if you have a family history of high cholesterol or heart disease, are overweight, have diabetes or high blood pressure, or have never had a cholesterol check. Since high cholesterol causes no symptoms, testing is the only way to know your levels.
