Clear answers to help you access your medication with confidence.
An NHS prescription is issued by a GP or other NHS prescriber and is subsidised by the NHS, meaning you pay a standard prescription charge or nothing at all if you are exempt. A private prescription is issued following a private consultation, and the full cost of the medication is charged to the patient. Some medicines are also only available privately, as they are not funded by the NHS.
Yes, provided the prescription has been issued by a prescriber registered with a recognised UK regulatory body such as the GMC or GPhC. We are unable to dispense prescriptions from unregistered sources. If you are unsure whether your prescription is valid, contact our team before visiting, and we will be able to advise you.
The cost varies depending on the medicine prescribed. Unlike NHS prescriptions, private prescriptions are charged at the actual cost of the medicine plus a dispensing fee. Our team can give you a cost estimate when you contact us or visit either of our Bradford branches.
